2003 Syrah from Monterey

Winemaker Notes

We gave the grapes a short cold soak, followed by a warm fermentation and no extended maceration. The wine was then racked to older barrels to allow the flavors to integrate and evolve. The result is a wine with lively dark color with black fruit and black licorice aromas and deep smoky notes. Upon release, this Syrah is deceivingly soft, elegant and mouthfilling. The flavors roll back and forth between black cherry, cranberry and black licorice, and will merge as the wine ages.
