2005 Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley

VineSugar Review:

In theory, I should love this wine but I just don't. It's actually infused with chocolate truffles. For me, it's feel like its trying a little too hard. Maybe the diehard chocolate lovers will like this but it feels very one-note. Aromas of black berries, earth spice, herbs and of course, chocolate are very distinct. The flavors start with jammy black fruit then immediately hit you with bittersweet chocolate notes that linger long into a very big, pronounced finish of big, round, mocha tannins, vanilla and loads of vine spice. It's a big wine that pigeon-holed itself rather distinctly. The chocolate fanatics may enjoy this but its a too literal for me.

Winemaker Notes

Our 2005 Falcor Dry Creek Zinfandel Zinfandel was produced from old vines in Sonoma County's Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys. It opens on the palate with rich flavors of spicy black fruit, and through its long finish this Zinfandel reveals complex characteristics of vanilla, clove, and dark chocolate.
