2006 Pinot Noir from Stiling Vineyard in Russian River Valley

  • 4 Stars VineSugar

Ruby red color. Aromas of black cherries, saw dust, cola berries and expressive violet florals. This is a full, juicy wine exploding with red berries and spices all nicely integrated through a wonderfully lingering finish of mocha, leather note and an exotic spice box.

  • 91 Points Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine

The slightly riper wine of a very ripe pair from Eric Kent, this big, broad-shouldered bottling is absolutely brimming with dark-cherry fruit, yet for all of its size and sense of muscle, it is no clumsy oaf and it shows surprising nuances of violet, orange rind and cocoa. Its richness comes at the cost of a bit of finishing heat and tannin, but a little patience and service with a mustard-crusted rack of lamb should show this one off at its very best." (10/08) Eric Kent is a winery on the verge of notoriety. Winemaker Kent Humphrey has delivered another successful vintage that will disappear in a heartbeat. The Stiling Vineyard Pinot is the flagship wine from this winery on the rise. Bright Bing cherries, spice box aromas and a long finish. This wine has it all. Speaking from experience this wine will benefit with a year of bottle age as it begins to find its voice. I've been opening last year's release with great results. (Keith Mabry)
