2007 Zinfandel from Rockpile Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley

Price: $30.00    Review Date: 2009-11-07

Highly Recommended

VineSugar Review:

Wonderful nuances of cinnamon, bright cherries, rich earth and herbal notes. Smooth, well focused and deep flavors of mixed bag of concentrated berries with soft floral tones. The finish is full, plenty long and rooted with rich tannins. Licorice, cinnamon spice, jammy black fruit all covered in a creamy, mocha and sweet oak flavor profile. Exquisite!

Winemaker Notes

With our familys first planting of Zinfandel in Sonoma County in 1895, we began to seek out vineyards which showcase Sonoma as the worlds premier appellation for zinfandel. Rockpile, a narrow ridge some 1200 feet above Dry Creek Valley, is just one of those areas. Steep, well-drained hillsides with shallow, rocky topsoil provide for less vigorous vines, smaller berries and intensely flavored zinfandel.

a day later and this wine really wafts of dark chocolate truffles, jammy berries and fresh herbs. So smooth and elegant. Awesome concentration and a long, chewy finish that commands your attention. Just an awesome wine.
