2001 Sauvignon Blanc
2003 Petite Sirah Limited Release
Price: $38.00 Review Date: 2009-11-01

Perfuming red fruit aromas with hints of cedar, cinnamon spice, bramble berries and lavender notes. Smooth entry with soft berry notes that fade into chewy tannins with woody spice and blueberry flavors. If the flavors matched the aroma, this would have been a great wine but the flavors fall flat and feel too simplistic. Considering Petite Sirah is Concannon's flagship varietal, and this was from their Livermore grapes, my expectations were much higher than what this wine delivered, especially at this price point.
The 2005 Petite Sirah Reserve is a exceptionally rich wine with red fruit and blackberry characteristics. While ready to drink now, this wine is age-worthy and can be held for upwards of five years. Enjoy with veal chops, grilled flank steak with chimichurri sauce or your favorite wild game.
