High octane aromas of candied-covered cherries, black licorice, smoke, wood and dusty earth. Easy entry with mocha, cherries and vanilla leading to dense, hearty tannins, earth spice and bittersweet chocolate. Overall, a rustic, vintage style Napa Cab offering earthy fruit and a spicy finish. Give this wine plenty of time (couple hours if possible) to open up for it to be as expressive as possible.
The 1999 Trailside Vineyard Cabernet epitomizes the capabilities of the rich, lush fruit of the Cabernet Sauvignon varietal. Deliciously concentrated fruit, yet smooth and balanced, this Cabernet is one of the best to date from this Rutherford vineyard. An absolutely fabulous, charismatic wine with dense complexity that is truly outstanding.
