Golden yellow with aromas of fresh bread dough, minerals and baked apples. Initial creamy texture leads you through baked pie flavors, notes of red delicious apples, flint and stone minerals then finishes with gobs of nuances from sur lees aging: yeast, stone fruit, smoke, and a lemony citrus zest acidity. Think of this as a sparkling wine without the carbonation. Drinks like a celebration only with full mouth feel and less bubbles!
Chardonnay from the Santa Lucia Highlands is always loaded with incredible fruit intensity and firm acidity. Tropical aromas of banana and mango are readily evident while there is a hint of caramel from French oak aging. This wine is fashioned in an approachable style that pairs well with lighter foods, especially chicken and white fish.
